A Knife in the Dark Deep in the heart of the Midgewater Marshes lived a colony of creatures that seemed to be of cricket-kind. As Strider led the Hobbits through the Marshes, they never encountered one of these creatures, but the night air was full of the incessant neek, breek sounds they made.
