In the eastern part of Nevrast lay a huge, long lake more than fifty miles from end to end, named Linaewen, the lake of birds. That lake took its name from the vast network of marshes that extended around it in all directions, attracting numerous wading birds of different kinds. The Marshes filled almost the entire eastern lowlands of Nevrast, filling that part of the land with stands of reeds and hidden pools.
