River Malduin

A northern tributary of the Teiglin

Map of the river Malduin

A minor river of northern Beleriand. It flowed southwards from the Ered Wethrin to meet the Teiglin before that river passed under the eaves of the Forest of Brethil.

Notes

1

Malduin's name is never translated specifically, but it seems to be made up of the Elvish elements mal-, 'gold' and -duin 'river'. The reason Malduin was known as the 'gold river' is nowhere explained.
