The second wife of Finwë

A Vanyarin Elf who became the second wife of Finwë after the departure of Míriel Serindë. She was the mother of both Fingolfin and Finarfin.

We have no reliable information about Indis' birth, though given her generation she was presumably born after the Eldar had arrived in Valinor.

The nature of Indis' relationship with Ingwë is open to question. In some texts, she is described as his sister, but in others she is his sister's daughter (and therefore his niece).
