Lord of the Haladin of Brethil; he fostered his nephews Húrin and Huor during their childhood years, and was slain in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad.

Haldir's date of birth is not given in any canonical source, but it does appear on the genealogical table of the Haladin given in volume 11 of The History of Middle-earth.

Haldir's younger brother Hundar isn't mentioned in the published Silmarillion, but he does appear on the same genealogical chart mentioned in Note 1.
