A high name and title claimed by Aragorn after the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. It refers in a literal sense to his renewal of the Kingship of the Dúnedain, and so to the renewal of the hope of Men. The full status of the name is unclear. When Aragorn claimed it, he seemed to give it almost equivalent importance to Elessar, which would become his royal name as the new High King. Though Aragorn's use of the name Envinyatar seems to imply that is comparably important, it is in fact never referred to again.

Notes

1

It is difficult to say whether the name Envinyatar was used in any official context or over a prolonged period. While the name was clearly significant, and we might therefore expect it to have be used throughout Aragorn's reign, we have no definite record of the title after III 3019.
