An occasional term used as a simple poetic equivalent of 'Elves'. It seems to have been used especially by the Mortal races of Arda (at least, no Elf ever refers to themselves as belonging to the 'Elven-folk'). The term also occasionally appears spelt as 'Elvenfolk', with identical meaning.
