Doom of the Noldor

The dread fate of the Deep Elves

"Tears unnumbered shall ye shed; and the Valar will fence Valinor against you, and shut you out..."
The opening words of the Doom of the Noldor
Quenta Silmarillion 9
Of the Flight of the Noldor

The prophecy and judgement pronounced by Mandos on the Noldor as they marched from Aman to make war on Morgoth. It is also known as the Curse or Doom of Mandos, the Doom of the Valar and the Prophecy of the North. The Doom expelled the Noldor from Valinor, and prophesied a time of betrayals and tragedies in Middle-earth. For the House of Fëanor, Mandos pronounced that they would be driven to dreadful deeds by their Oath, and be dispossessed of the Kingship of the Noldor. All of these prophecies ultimately came to pass.
