In the valley of the Running River, on the southern side of the Lonely Mountain. In the decades after the refounding of Erebor, Dale's power extended further to the east and south of the Mountain.

The township of Men beneath the Lonely Mountain

A township of Men lying between Erebor and Esgaroth, destroyed when Smaug descended on the Dwarf-kingdom. After Smaug's destruction, Dale was refounded by Bard, who was descended from its lords.
