Calacirya

The Pass of Light

The cleft made in the mountains of the Pelóri so that the Elves of Tirion (that stood within the gap) could still see the stars beyond, while the Light of the Two Trees shone through from the West.

The Annals of Aman in volume X of The History of Middle-earth gives an exact date for the making of the Calacirya: Valian Year 1133. Converting to solar years, this would date the creation of the Pass at about 3,517 years before the first rising of the Sun.
