A partial translation of the Elvish Dagor Bragollach, the 'Battle of Sudden Flame' that consumed the lands north of Beleriand in the year I 455. This battle saw the final breaking of the Siege of Angband by Morgoth. Rivers of fire consumed the green plain of Ard-galen, and the land of Dorthonion was captured by Morgoth's forces. The Bragollach also saw the end of Fingolfin (who rode to face Morgoth in hopeless single combat). Finrod's guard-tower of Minas Tirith withstood the main battle, but it was captured by Sauron just two years afterwards.
