(The Teleri and the Sindar were related peoples, and so Telerin and Sindarin were would have certain common origins. In Aman, the Telerin tongue developed under the close influence of Quenya, while in Middle-earth, Sindarin evolved along a unique path of its own.)

A rare term essentially equivalent to 'Elvish', as a reference to any of the languages of the Elves. It applied equally to the High-elven Quenya tongue (of which it is said that Frodo Baggins knew a little) and to the Sindarin language that was most widely used in Middle-earth, as well as to other less common dialects of Elvish.
