EärnurThe last King of Gondor
Son of Eärnil II, and last King of Gondor. In his youth, he defeated the Witch-king of Angmar at the Battle of Fornost. The Witch-king returned to Minas Morgul, and issued a challenge to Eärnur, who answered it and, entering Minas Morgul, was lost. After him, the realm of Gondor was ruled by hereditary Stewards, the first of whom was Mardil Voronwë. Notes
